Music, memories and family will come together this Saturday when the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston hosts Stephen Marley: Old Soul Live Unplugged, a special concert marking the Jo Mersa Marley Eternal Birthday Celebration.

The event, presented by Roaring Lion, is designed as a heartfelt tribute to Joseph ‘Jo Mersa’ Marley, blending acoustic performances with reflections on his life and legacy.

“The decision [is] to host an intimate performance to create an atmosphere of reverence and spiritual connection,” said Stephen Marley.

Jo Mersa Marley, Stephen’s first child, died in December 2022. He would have celebrated his 35th birthday on March 12.

“This is the third year since his [Joseph’s] transition, and we feel this is the right way to celebrate the trinity. It’s a very emotional thing, but we have to keep Jo’s spirit alive,” Stephen Marley said.

The acoustic showcase, set for Bob Marley Museum at Hope Road, St Andrew, will bring several members of the Marley family together on stage. Stephen Marley, an eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer, singer and songwriter, will lead the performance. He will be joined by his brothers Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley and Julian Marley.

Other family members, including Yohan Marley, Hymn Marley and Mystic Marley, are also expected to perform in honour of Jo Mersa.

A number of fellow artistes will also participate in the tribute, including Richie Spice, Queen Ifrica, Jesse Royal, Jemere Morgan and Ras-I.

The evening will be hosted by Bambino and Ron Muschette, while sound systems Stone Love, Renaissance Disco and Rassarella will take over later, providing music for an after-party celebration.
