PERFECT Brew’s time on the racetrack came to a close on Saturday, October 11, 2025 after the six-year-old gelding sustained a shoulder injury during the running of the seventh race.
The incident led to the fall of jockey Demar Williams who, despite the spill, escaped harm and was able to fulfill his remaining riding commitments on the day.
The injury, deemed severe and non-recoverable, resulted in the decision to humanely put down Perfect Brew. His passing marked the end of a career that spanned 51 starts, producing 11 wins, 11 second-place finishes, and 10 third-place efforts. His total earnings exceeded $14 million.
Perfect Brew was conditioned throughout his career by trainer Richard Azan. A bay gelding by Bern Identity out of Moonlight Brew, he last visited the winners’ enclosure 21 days prior to his final race, scoring over 6½ furlongs in an Overnight Allowance event.
Beyond his wins, Perfect Brew earned recognition for his consistency and presence in some of the major races. He secured a placing in the Jamaica Derby and ran fifth in the Mouttet Mile, both performances that added weight to his overall record.
