Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will end the year as the 39th best country in world football, based on the latest FIFA rankings.
The national senior women’s team, who have qualified for the last two FIFA Women’s World Cup, have broken into the top 40 for just the second time in their history.
Despite suffering four straight losses from April to June against Mexico, USA and England, the Reggae Girlz ended the year with two wins, including the 18-0 demolition of Dominica in their Concacaf World Cup Qualifier last month.
It’s Jamaica’s highest-ever ranking since August 2023 when they soared to 37 after their historic run to the knockout stages of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Reggae Girlz also remain the fourth highest ranked team in the region, behind USA, Canada and Mexico.
The team will return to action in March when they take on Nicaragua in their second group game of World Cup Qualifying.
