JRC to put hold on increase in licensing fees

Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC)

January 16, 2026

The following is a release from the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC).

After careful review the Jamaica Racing Commission hereby advises that the projected increases for the 2026 licensing period in the amounts of $10,000 have been placed on hold.

Chairman Ryan Reid has indicated that in light of the passage of Hurricane Mellissa, all increases to stakeholders should be placed on hold to assist with alleviating the financial burdens on the industry. The JRC remains committed to the development and success of all stakeholders.

Notwithstanding, the commission awaits further instructions from our third-party insurance company regarding the new rates for the upcoming licensing period.
