Reggae stalwart Chuck Fenda and US-based dancehall artiste Dollydon have remixed their song ‘ Weh Mi Like’ on Rvssian’s ‘Recovery’ rhythm.
This is the second time in his two-decade long career that Chuck Fenda has recorded on a dancehall beat, and his delivery is different from what fans are accustomed to. Dollydon is under the guidance of Chuck Fenda, who has helped to bring some notable female acts to the fore including Cherine Anderson and Jada Kingdom.
“Chuck sent me the song to listen to, and the moment I heard it, I felt it. The riddim spoke to me instantly. I added my Dollydon magic to the track, sent it back, and he loved it. From there, everything came together naturally,” said Dollydon, while explaining what it was about the rhythm that drew her attention.
“The riddim has a raw but smooth energy. It felt authentic and deeply rooted in Jamaican sound while still being modern. It gave me the freedom to express myself confidently and naturally — nothing forced, just pure vibes.”
Dollydon added, “The song is inspired by real-life vibes, attraction, and confidence. It’s about knowing exactly what you like and owning it unapologetically. It’s grown, fun, and relatable — a celebration of self-assurance and desire.”
She said the response to the song has been positive and “amazing”.
“Fans, DJs, and radio personalities have been showing genuine love. People are connecting with the energy, the lyrics, and the chemistry on the track. A lot of listeners say it feels authentic and timeless.”
The official video for Weh Mi Like was recently shot in New York City under the direction of Mario Cheef.
Dollydon said that she got into music at a young age doing karaoke with her grandfather.
“Those early moments planted the seed, but I didn’t take music seriously until about four years ago after my grandmother passed away suddenly. Music became my escape — a way to heal, cope, and express emotions I couldn’t put into words,” she said.
The young artiste lauded Chuck Fenda for being “very supportive and hands-on in my growth”.
“Beyond the music, he’s connected me with major industry figures like Pink Panther, One Kevin, Foota Hype, and many others. That kind of guidance, mentorship and access has been invaluable and has helped open doors while I continue to grow as an artiste.”
Dollydon is originally from the community of Jungle in Kingston 12. She migrated to the US during her teenage years. She is a retired US Army veteran.
