The Government has earmarked $225 million in the 2026/27 Estimates of Expenditure to complete the integrated infrastructure project in Anchovy, St. James, and conduct the project close-out audit.
The works will be carried out under the Integrated Community Development Project II, which seeks to improve access to basic urban infrastructure and services while contributing to enhanced community safety in selected economically vulnerable and socially volatile communities across Jamaica.
Achievements up to December 2025 include training facilitated for 1,000 environmental wardens across five communities; completion of rehabilitation works at Treadlight, Lethe, and Salt Spring Primary Schools, as well as the Denham Town Police Station; rehabilitation works at Hope Valley Experimental and August Town Primary Schools; support provided to more than 40 summer camps; enterprise development grants awarded to more than 500 beneficiaries; and enhancement of parks and green spaces within 10 communities.
Additionally, integrated infrastructure projects have been fully completed in August Town, Denham Town, and Treadlight, while works in Norwood and Salt Spring are 80 per cent complete. Safe passages have also been constructed at Roehampton, Treadlight, Greenwich Town, Bickersteth, and August Town Primary Schools.
Minor infrastructure works, including the removal of zinc fencing and the rehabilitation of sidewalks in Greenwich Town, have also been completed.
The project will be implemented by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) and is scheduled to conclude in March 2027.
The Estimates of Expenditure was recently tabled in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams.
