Dancehall veteran Delly Ranx is stepping into a new chapter of his career with the release of his deeply personal album Better Than Before, a project he describes as a reflection of growth, faith, and resilience.
According to the artiste, the title speaks directly to his journey.
“The Delly Ranx then and the Delly Ranx now are two different people. This Delly understands patience, process, and loves the Creator even more,” he said. “Every day we strive to become better, and that is what I poured into this album.”
The project, which blends reggae and dancehall, is rooted in life experiences, personal struggles, and spiritual strength. Delly Ranx revealed that the album was created during one of the most challenging periods of his life.
“This was one of the hardest times for me. I had to draw deeply from within and lean heavily on the Most High for strength and direction,” he explained. “This is not just music, it’s survival, faith, and real emotion.”
Produced with key contributions from various collaborators, the album carries a mature sound and message, reflecting the artiste’s evolution in songwriting and musical understanding. Unlike many modern projects, Better Than Before features no guest artistes.
“This is 100 per cent Delly Ranx–my thoughts, my voice, my energy from start to finish,” he said.
The album also tackles real-life themes such as relationships, betrayal, and personal accountability. One of the standout tracks, Love Scam, produced by Upsetta Records, is expected to resonate strongly with Jamaican audiences. If Sorry Coulda Heal The Hurt also stands out as one of his most emotional and challenging recordings.
Delly Ranx opined that the project will challenge how artistes are viewed in the industry.
“I don’t want to be boxed in as just a dancehall or reggae artiste. I simply want to be an artiste,” he stated.
With a career spanning decades, the deejay is also using the project to inspire others.
“I am a 50-year-old youth still doing music. That shows that if you have the will, there is always a way. Age is not a limit,” he said.
Looking ahead, Delly Ranx plans to push the project globally through music videos, interviews, and tours, while also focusing on mentoring emerging talent.
“I want this album to be remembered as the turning point in my career, something that inspires people and shows them they can always become better than before,” he added.
