Kim Kardashian says she needed years of being single to recover from her marriage to Kanye West, insisting she never felt pressured to jump into another relationship.

The Kardashians star split from the controversial rapper in 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple share four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Aside from a brief romance with comedian Pete Davidson, Kim largely stayed single before finding love with Lewis Hamilton.

Speaking to The Sunday Times Style magazine, she said: “I was really single for five years. And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with.

“I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up.

“I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to.”

Although she is now linked to the Formula One star, Kim made it clear she wants to keep the relationship out of the spotlight.

Asked if she was willing to discuss their romance, she replied: “In the most respectful way, I’d probably rather not.”

The 45-year-old also credited her family’s reality television shows with helping them work through conflicts and grow closer as a family.

“I feel like I’ve lived my life super-open and authentically, and I don’t know if [being on reality TV] has forced that, even more than my personality would have allowed,” she said.

“It has allowed us to face things. On the episodes we never typically would want to end anything on a bad note. So having a conversation that was tough or a fight, we’d always talk it out before the end of that episode.

“In a way that might have been our therapy. I’m a super-positive person, I don’t think a lot of people can handle it, but I think it’s brought us extremely close as a family.”

Kim also said entering her 40s has brought a new level of confidence.

“There’s definitely something about being in your 40s that gives you this extra confidence. You know your path and that feels good,” she said.

The reality star revealed she has also shifted her focus from cosmetic enhancements to long-term wellness and healthy ageing.

“I’ve switched my mentality, and now I’m coming from a place of longevity and cellular health.

“I love trying things to make me feel confident but I’m more into things that contribute to a healthy lifestyle. So right now I’m super into hyperbaric chambers and red light therapy.”
