Jamaica’s Alliyah McNeil broke the University of North Texas high jump record at Friday’s Arkansas Invitational held at the Tyson Indoor Facilities, clearing 1.80m to win the event.
McNeil, the former Iowa Western and University of Minnesota representative, broke the 1.79m record set in 2013 by Shahaf Bareni. She was also second in the long jump with a mark of 6.22m.
Former Holmwood Technical ISSA girls’ athletics championships gold medalist Cedricka Williams threw a personal best 19.39m, seventh all time at the University of Tennessee, to win the women’s weight throw.
At the HBCU Showcase held at the Armory in New York, Rochele Solmon of Hampton University won the women’s shot put with a season’s best 15.05m. Her teammate Damali Williams was second in the weight throw with a personal best 16.92m.
Brandon Lloyd of Arizona State was second in the men’s shot put at the Corky Classic held at Texas Tech, throwing 18.85m, while Shaiquan Dunn of the University of Texas was sixth with 17.78m.
Malaika Cunningham of Villanova won the women’s high jump at the Quaker Invitational held at the University of Pennsylvania, clearing 1.73m.
