The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has cancelled this season’s staging of the Champions Cup football competition, citing “complications of doing so at this time of the year”.
In a release sent out Sunday morning, the organisers of high schools sporting competitions said the decision had been taken after consulting with stakeholders.
The competition that sees teams from both the Manning and daCosta Cup competitions facing off against each other is usually played late in the schoolboy football season but was rescheduled due to the passage of Hurricane Melissa in late October.
There were plans to expand the competition this year, adding the finalists from both the Walker and Ben Francis Cup competitions to the four top teams from both the Manning and daCosta Cup competitions.
