
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Basketball Association has unveiled the roster for its inaugural eNational Basketball Team, set to compete on the global stage in the FIBA World Championship (eFIBA).
As the official esports basketball competition organised by FIBA, eFIBA brings together national federations from across the globe to battle for the coveted World Championship title played on NBA 2K26 (PlayStation).
This ground-breaking moment marks Jamaica’s official entry into the world of esports basketball, where national pride meets digital competition.
Representing Jamaica are Haughton Richards (Captain), Cristian Benjamin, Curt Daley, Jonathan Lee, Derek Walcott, and Shemar Williams.
Guiding the team is D’Andre Forbes, who will serve as team manager.
The journey begins on January 23, 2026, with the pre-qualifiers which will see eight teams split into two groups of four, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the regional qualifiers on February 28.
From there, it’s double-elimination warfare as the top four teams get two chances to secure their place in the final. The regional finals take place on March 1, 2026.
Jamaica will compete in Group B of the pre-qualifiers along with the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic and Guatemala.
