Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby Jr is hopeful that a positive result against Trinidad and Tobago today could prove a ray of sunshine for Jamaicans who are now feeling the worsening effects of Hurricane Melissa.

The Girlz will face Trinidad in an international friendly today at the Ato Boldon Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Jamaica time.

Speaking in his press conference yesterday, Busby said the team is heavily concerned about their friends, family, and fans back home, and is hopeful a result against Caribbean rivals Trinidad can bring some joy amid the worsening weather conditions.

“Every day we give our thoughts and definitely our prayers back home to everybody. This is devastating and for those back home, we have them in our thoughts every day,” Busby said.

“We speak about in our meetings about what football does, how it brings people together and what it means to people around the world. In this particular case for us, it’s huge because we can bring some joy.”

He added, “They know how much the team means to people of Jamaica, this in Jamaica and those in the diaspora.”

The fixture is being used as final preparation for the Concacaf W Qualifiers, where Jamaica has been drawn in Group B, alongside Guyana, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda.
