The 2025 Mouttet Mile, the richest horse race in the English-speaking Caribbean, with a record-breaking US$300,000 purse, is set for December 6. The best thoroughbreds from Jamaica and abroad clash in this prestigious Grade One event going one mile (1,600m).
Funcaandun, last year’s Mouttet Mile winner, is indeed facing a tough challenge, ranked 18th on the provisional list of 23 horses, with only 16 spots available. To secure a spot, he’ll need some withdrawals from higher-ranked horses. Given his form, with a recent six-furlong workout in 1:14.1, he’s still a contender, but the competition is fierce.
