The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) will on Thursday, January 29, host its 14th Annual Educational Achievement Awards Ceremony.
This is to celebrate wards of the State who excelled in the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
A total of 64 youngsters from across the Agency’s four regions – Western, Southern, North East and South East – will be recognised for achieving passes in four or more subjects.
Special prizes will also be presented to regional CSEC awardees who attained the highest number of subject passes, while the all-Island winners will receive the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information’s Top Boy and Top Girl Award.
Public Relations and Communications Manager at the CPFSA, Kristen Laing, told JIS News that the annual awards ceremony is a major highlight on the Agency’s calendar.
“It allows us to celebrate the resilience, commitment, and endless possibilities of our children in State care. Each year, we take the time to recognise these young people who have performed exceptionally well academically, often while navigating very difficult life circumstances,” she said.
Ms. Laing noted that despite difficult circumstances, many have excelled academically, reminding us that with support and encouragement, they can inspire us all.
“The ceremony goes beyond the presentation of certificates and prizes, as it reassures students that their hard work is valued and recognised. The CPFSA is proud to host this ceremony every year, as it reinforces our belief in education as a powerful tool for change. It also helps to send a clear message to children in State care that they are valued, supported, and more than capable of achieving their goals,” she explained.
The CPFSA’s mandate is aligned with the Ministry’s mission to provide quality education for all children.
The Agency is committed to ensuring that those in State care reach their fullest potential through equitable access to education.
Each year, the CPFSA invests more than $80 million in tuition, examination fees, and educational supplies for children enrolled from the early-childhood level through to tertiary studies.
