What started as a calm reflection on friendship quickly spiralled into full-blown drama after reggae icon Buju Banton’s recent interview triggered a fiery response from fellow artiste Wayne Wonder.
Buju, in a sit-down with Queenzflip, hinted at a long-standing fallout with Wayne Wonder, describing friendship as temporary and suggesting betrayal, greed, and lack of loyalty over the years. Without calling names directly at first, fans quickly connected the dots to a decades-old rift between the two.
But Wayne Wonder was not about to stay silent.
In a blistering Facebook post uploaded just hours after the interview began making rounds, Wayne tore into Buju, calling him a “demon” and accusing him of twisting the truth about their history.
Wayne strongly rejected claims that he failed to support Buju during his legal troubles, detailing multiple visits to see him in jail and during house arrest, even alleging that it was Buju who eventually told him to stop visiting.
He then went further, opening up about what he says are years of uncredited work and lost royalties, including on major songs like Murderer, Deportee, and It’s Not An Easy Road.
According to Wayne, he, Buju, and others collaborated on the tracks, but credits were later altered, leaving him and another contributor cut out while Buju collected the earnings.
The entertainer also accused Buju of being “money hungry” and painted a picture of a one-sided relationship dating back to the early days of their careers, when he says he supported Buju before fame.
Despite the harsh words, Wayne maintained that he had stayed quiet for years out of respect, only speaking now because of what he described as false narratives being pushed publicly.
The clash has since sent social media into a frenzy, with fans divided and many expressing shock at the depth of the fallout between two of reggae’s most respected names.
