Renowned reggae producer Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton has officially released his latest project, ‘The Sarah Juggling’, a dynamic one-drop reggae rhythm inspired by the Frankie Paul version of the classic hit Sara.
The project was launched on Bob Marley’s birthday, and features a wide range of established and emerging artistes.
Henton, a respected figure in the reggae and dancehall industry, opined that juggling rhythms are still relevant, and there is still a demand for them.
“Juggling has been a standard for DJs, selectors and sound systems, and I don’t think that will go away any time soon,” he said.
After taking a hiatus from the local music scene, Henton found new inspiration through his educational initiatives. He founded IMTP, a school teaching skills such as beatmaking, production and audio engineering, as well as RHPAC, a community programme offering free music lessons to children age six to 16. These projects reignited his passion for producing and paved the way for The Sarah Juggling.
The project features an impressive line-up of artistes including Jahmali, Warrior King, Delly Ranx, Bobby K, Junior X, Chris Howell, Khristopher, Kuzikk, and Amanda, a promising young singer.
Looking ahead, Henton emphasised the importance of substance in reggae’s future.
“We as an industry must first acknowledge the reality of poor sales. To fix it, our good songwriters must take an active role. Sometimes we focus more on the riddim than the song. Talented artistes and producers still exist here in Jamaica – we just need to concentrate on the substance and not the hype.”
