Dedicated to further expanding his reach, London-based reggae singer Boom Donovan continues to add a diverse array of albums to his discography which are aimed at different demographics.
He is releasing a vinyl version of his Why album, a move he felt would bring back a feeling of nostalgia.
“When I put this album together, I immediately knew I would release a vinyl version due to its composition of hard-hitting tracks. This album represents core reggae and I felt it was necessary to have a hard copy that represents how much the genre has evolved while still respecting fundamental values. I hosted a launch for the release of the vinyl version and the reception and support were tremendous,” he said.
In addition to the success of his latest initiative, Boom Donovan has released projects such as Student Of The Ghetto that tackles situations faced commonly in the inner city through a personal lens.
“Being from Trench Town to Waterhouse has prepared me for the world at large and it’s demonstrated on this project. Some of the wisest people I know are from the ghetto and this album is representative of what life is like growing up in the inner city,” he said.
For an upcoming album, Boom Donovan Green opted to draw his inspiration from the legendary Hugh Mundell. The album is titled Boom Donovan Sings Twelve Hits Of Hugh Mundell and feature songs such as Jah Fire, Great Tribulation and Africa Must Be Free.
“Hugh Mundell has always been a great influence for me musically and it is with great honour that I compile this album to the highest quality possible. This album will also be available on vinyl, in keeping with the preservation of our culture,” he said.
Boom Donovan has also managed to make his way to the Jamaican airwaves with his single, Politician.
“Jack Scorpio has been warming up the airwaves with this single and I am thankful for the continued support. I feel proud that my music continues to transcend. Other major sound systems like Natty Frontline, Jah Revelation, Coxone Outernational and others have also been instrumental in the playing of my music and I appreciate the constant support,” he said.
