Tad’s Record is turning up the volume for Jamaica’s 64th Independence celebrations with a star-studded musical tribute.
Celebrating Jamaica 64, the label’s latest compilation album, is being released worldwide on August 7, bringing together 17 tracks from a mix of reggae legends and contemporary stars.
“This album is our musical salute to Jamaica as we celebrate another milestone in our nation’s history,” said Tad A. Dawkins Jr, producer of the project.
Produced exclusively by Tad A. Dawkins Jr for Tad’s Record, the album celebrates the richness, resilience and global influence of Jamaican music.
Released during the island’s annual Independence celebrations, Celebrating Jamaica 64 spans lovers’ rock, roots reggae, dancehall and conscious music, bringing together established icons and contemporary voices across generations.
Among the artistes featured are Big Mountain, Marcia Griffiths, Grampa Entatain, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Raquel Jones, JC Lodge and Brigadier Jerry.
Tad’s Record said the artistes’ contributions helped create a project that reflects the diversity and enduring legacy of Jamaican music while paying tribute to the island’s 64 years of Independence.
“For more than six decades, Jamaica has given the world music that inspires hope, love and unity. Celebrating Jamaica 64 brings together artistes from different generations to honour that legacy while continuing to move our music forward,” Dawkins Jr said.
The compilation pairs timeless reggae melodies with contemporary sounds, with the label aiming to appeal to longtime reggae fans while introducing younger audiences to the enduring excellence of Jamaican music.
