More than a decade after bursting onto the international music scene, dancehall star Kranium is celebrating yet another major career triumph.
The Jamaican hitmaker has amassed hundreds of millions of global streams across his catalogue, driven by a string of international hits that have resonated across dancehall, reggae and R&B audiences worldwide. His global hit, We Can, featuring Tory Lanez, has officially been certified gold in the United States, marking another landmark achievement in a career defined by consistency and crossover success.
“To receive a second RIAA Gold plaque as the lead artiste means everything because these are records that started with my vision and my story. It’s a blessing to know that music from Jamaica can continue connecting with people everywhere,” Kranium said.
Born in Montego Bay, St James and raised between Jamaica and New York, Kranium’s seamless fusion of dancehall, reggae, R&B and hip hop has since earned him a loyal international following and multiple certifications across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
“This isn’t just my win,” he said of his latest accomplishment.“It’s a win for dancehall, for Jamaica, and for every young artiste who believes our music deserves to stand alongside any genre in the world.”
The second RIAA Gold certification places Kranium among a select group of contemporary dancehall artistes to earn multiple RIAA Gold certifications as the lead artiste on their own records, reinforcing his commercial strength in the US market.
The new certification follows the enduring success of Nobody Has To Know, the breakout single that introduced Kranium’s signature blend of dancehall, reggae and R&B to audiences across the globe. The song previously earned RIAA Gold status in the United States and remains one of the defining records of his career.
“Coming from Jamaica, you dream about taking our music to every corner of the world, but you also carry the responsibility of representing the culture the right way,” Kranium said.
His growing list of achievements includes platinum and gold certifications in Canada for Nobody Has To Know and We Can; gold in Canada for Can’t Believe; gold and silver certifications in the United Kingdom for Nobody Has To Know; and silver certifications in the United Kingdom for We Can and Gal Policy.
