Four-time defending champion trainer Jason DaCosta announced that two of his standout mares, Mamma Mia and Comehometome, will be retired from racing and transitioned to the breeding shed with immediate effect.
Mamma Mia, a six-year-old chestnut daughter of Soul Warrior, had an impressive career with 10 wins from 37 starts, including the 1000 Guineas at age three. Her last win was in the I’m Satisfied Trophy on October 11, and she retires with over $16 million in earnings. She’ll be paired with
Sensational Slam in the breeding shed.
She last raced on Thursday, January 1, 2026 when she finished fourth in the $2-million Miracle Man Cup before being disqualified.
Comehometome, on the other hand, had 24 starts, securing four wins, six seconds, and three thirds, with over $6 million in prize money. She bowed out of racing on December 14, 2025. She’s expected to be paired with Soul Warrior in her new breeding career.
