KINGSTON, Jamaica — Racing United took over the lead in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL), on goal-difference after beating 10-man Treasure Beach 4-1 in their second round game played at Ferdie Neita Park Complex on Wednesday.

Racing United’s win-ending a four-game run of drawing games- saw the Anthony Patrick-coached team take over the lead from Montego Bay United on goal-difference, both on 32 points.

The four goals scored by Racing United on Wednesday was more than they had scored in their previous five games combined.

Treasure Beach were on their heels early after Richard Brown was shown a straight red card in the 14th minute for a dangerous tackle on a Racing United player just on the edge of the 18-yard box.

They showed good discipline to hold Racing United to a 0-0 draw at half time but it was only a matter of time before the home team took the lead when Nickyle Ellis fired them ahead in the 52nd minute, running on to a through pass to beat goalkeeper Romario Palma.

Jevaughn Brown doubled the advantage seven minutes later when he controlled an attempted clearance from the Treasure Beach team on his chest and fired the ball back on the volley past Palma.

Nicholas Lawrence pulled a goal back for Treasure Beach in the 66th minute but two substitutes scored for Racing United to take the game away from the visitors.

Chavany Willis restored Racing United’s two-goal cushion when he scored from close range in the 68th minute before Mikyle Williams converted a penalty in time added.

In another game played Wednesday, Dunbeholden FC moved up one place to ninth after their 1-1 draw against Molynes United at Dunbeholden Sports Complex.

Odane Samuels gave Dunbeholden the lead in the 53rd minute but Matthew Ellis came off the bench to score the equaliser for Molynes United.
