A number of the West Indies’ players across both men’s and women’s squads have been picked by ESPN as some of the standout players of 2025.

The ESPNcricinfo list is a list of fantasy teams curated by staff who pick the teams from among those who excelled through the year.

Described as prolific, Trinidad’s Nicholas Pooran got the highest honours, having been named captain of the ESPNcricinfo Men’s T20 team of 2025.

Commenting on the choices the ESPNcricinfo team said “Jayden Seales (27 wickets in 11 innings) votes from all but one of our staff, and with Shai Hope the year’s best keeper-bat, West Indies get two players in the XI for the first time this decade.”

For the women, Barbadian Hayley Matthews was named on the ESPNcricinfo  Women’s T20 team of 2025, she was the only Caribbean woman on that side, dominated by players from Australia and England.
