Twelve years in music production and 20 years as a professional DJ, Clarendon-based DJ Lux has made his debut as a recording artiste.
Last month, he released the song Give Thanks, produced by JVM Entertainment.
“Give Thanks came about by just taking the time to give thanks to the Creator. Sometimes we as humans forget that everything in life is controlled by the Creator, and we should always remember to praise the Most High no matter the circumstances. When it seems that there is no one to help, there is always God,” DJ Lux explained.
Known for his production work in the dancehall and reggae arenas, DJ Lux not only performed Give Thanks, but he also recorded, mixed, and mastered it. The music video, shot by WAPPA, and which he edited, has been making the rounds on cable.
Give Thanks marks a promising start to his journey as an artiste. Fans and members of the music community have shown strong support, highlighting DJ Lux’s ability to transition from behind the console to centre stage, bringing his own message and musical vision to audiences.
“Well, I’ve always known it was going to come to the point where I will begin to express myself as an artiste. I have been involved in music production for numerous prominent artistes, making beats, writing lyrics, and melodies. People have encouraged me over the years to start recording myself as an artiste because I have a great voice. I also have a lot that I’d like to express; so, it’s time to let my voice be heard,” DJ Lux reasoned.
He expressed hope that his work will be heard and appreciated worldwide, leaving a legacy behind even when he is done with music.
“But most importantly, I hope to use my music as a tool to inspire and help others. The work that I put in is not just to benefit me alone, it’s for everyone in need of help, once it’s within my reach.”
