Concerned about what they say is the lack of songs that female audiences can dance to, Ise Byrg and Di Blaze have teamed up for ‘Ladies Holiday’.
“The song is Team Barricade’s way of reintroducing our females to the Jamaican party scene. They are the centre of attraction at these parties and yet they are being ignored. Most of the songs are about ‘chopping’ and promoting antisocial behaviour. So, this is our way to paying tribute to the ladies and give them something that they can dance to,” Ise Byrg explained.
The dancehall artiste spoke about collaborating with Di Blaze.
“It has always been an uplifting and pleasant vibe collaborating with Di Blaze on any track, hence the establishment of Team Barricade Movement. Great artiste to work with,” said Ise Byrg.
Ladies Holiday was produced by Everton ‘Rado’ Minott, of the Spanish-Town based Armzhouse Records. It was released on August 12. Ise Byrg, who is from the community of Frazers Content in Spanish Town, said it venturing into music was unavoidable.
“Music to me is more like my heritage,” he said. “It’s a way of expression and my way of communicating with the world.”
Although his journey in music has been a learning process, Ise Byrg said that he has had challenges as it relates to the appreciation of his music.
“So far, my musical journey has been a great learning process for me, and an eye-opener. It’s not always what you expect but it has moulded me into a great artiste. I would describe my musical journey as my invisible mentor,” he stated.
“The greatest challenge that I’ve faced in my career is the fact that most people don’t actually appreciate quality music anymore. Mediocrity has been on the forefront of the minds of our people. That needs to change.”
He said his main goal is to be able to make it to the mainstream and deliver authentic and uplifting music that can inspire.
“Big respect to my mom and my colleagues for always motivating me. The responsibility of taking my family and friends out of the everyday struggle, that is what keeps me going,” he said.
